Subaru, Emilia, Beatrice, and Rem visit the Karsten Estate to see Crusch Karsten, who has recently awakened. While waiting with Wilhelm van Astrea, Subaru asks about Crusch's first knight, Ferris. Wilhelm claims Ferris is resting from exhaustion and asks them not to visit him. Crusch enters, walking independently but wearing bandages over her left eye. Subaru is overcome with relief, offering emotional words of comfort instead of his prepared apologies. Crusch joins them and discusses the political landscape, including Priscilla Barielle’s death, the Pleiades Watchtower, and the need to focus on the Royal Selection. However, Crusch's composure soon breaks as she tearfully questions if she is wrong for how she was saved. Sensing her internal agony over the unbefitting nature of her recovery, Subaru holds her hand and fiercely reassures her. During this, Crusch notices Subaru's hand has also recovered from its black markings without the Church of the Divine Dragon's aid and quietly mutters, "That's unfair." As the visit ends, Wilhelm escorts the group out and confesses he lied; Ferris is not resting but is actually at the Royal Cemetery. Bound by his duty to Crusch, Wilhelm cannot act but begs Subaru's group to go speak with him. At the cemetery, near the Royal mausoleum, the group finds Ferris wearing a plain male tailcoat, stripped of his usual feminine demeanor and gestures. Ferris reveals that he has been dismissed as Crusch's knight, meaning he has stopped being "Ferri-chan" and has returned to being Felix Argyle.
