Subaru, Emilia, Beatrice, and Rem visit a church to meet Filore, a blonde, red-eyed nun and "Saintess" of the Divine Dragon Church. After ushering out some unruly church children who made malicious remarks about Emilia's half-elf heritage, Filore serves her guests tea. Subaru and Filore quickly bond over their shared experience of making embarrassing blunders at the Royal Castle. The Emilia Camp deeply thanks Filore for using her "Sacrament"—a secret, ancient healing technique passed down to the Church's Saintesses—to help Crusch Karsten. Filore shares that she was abandoned at the church fifteen years ago and does not know her parents. She explains that she defied the Church's wishes to keep the Sacrament a secret because she felt compelled to act against the Witch Cult's atrocities. While high-ranking Church members discuss her actions at the castle, she has been ordered to wait at the church. Rem raises a tense but necessary point: because the Divine Dragon Church worships Volcanica, who sealed the Witch of Envy, the Church might harbor prejudice against Emilia. However, Emilia defuses the tension, and at Subaru’s suggestion, she and the friend-starved Filore joyfully agree to become friends. A young church associate named Tiga Rauleon arrives to supervise Filore. He and Subaru quickly strike up a casual friendship, to Filore’s astonishment. Tiga then delivers major news: the sleeping Duchess Crusch Karsten has finally woken up. Eager to see her, Subaru and his group bid Filore farewell and depart, while Tiga forces the reluctant Filore to stay behind. After the Emilia Camp leaves, Teiga asks Filore about her insignia. Filore pulls out an insignia containing a crimson Dragon Gem, which glows with a dazzling light in her palm. Tiga observes that things are about to get busy, noting they are "a year and a half late."
