Re:Zero Chapter 33: A Triple Axel of Running in Circles, and the Fully Automatic Washing Machine Won't Stop Rinsing
Subaru awakens from a disoriented, spinning state to find Beatrice, Crusch, "White Sheep," and "Black Dog" tending to him. They discover that Ferris ("Blue Snake") has vanished. A dispute breaks out over his disappearance, culminating in Crusch incapacitating "Black Dog" and setting off alone to find Ferris. Subaru tries to chase after her, but all sound suddenly vanishes from his environment. Unable to scream or make a sound, Subaru is impaled from behind by a wide-bladed sword, kicked through a broken castle wall, and falls to his death in absolute silence.
Subaru loops back via "Return by Death" to a moment before the crisis in Kugelschreiber Castle. Recognizing Ferris is already missing, Subaru immediately raises the alarm. Crusch uses her Divine Protection of Wind Reading to verify that "White Sheep" and "Black Dog" are innocent. "Black Dog" argues for a retreat to preserve Crusch's indispensable power against the Authority of Lust. Crusch firmly refuses to abandon Ferris, prompting "Black Dog" to attack her with green flames. Using her Dragon's Eye, Crusch neutralizes his magic, cuts him down, and leaves alone to find Ferris.
While Beatrice heals "Black Dog," Subaru is overwhelmed by an unnatural, intense rage. Suddenly, the ceiling caves in soundlessly. Subaru uses Invisible Providence to throw Beatrice and "Black Dog" to safety, then grabs "White Sheep" and flees the collapsing corridor.
Once safe, Subaru confirms Beatrice is alive through their spirit contract. Analyzing the situation, Subaru and "White Sheep" realize their extreme emotions—such as panic and rage—are the result of their self-control and inhibitions being artificially stripped away alongside their sense of sound. "White Sheep" reveals a dangerous possibility: two or more "Beloved Children" have likely arrived.
