Following the Morrow manor operation, Subaru changes out of his cross-dressing disguise and joins the other key members in the hunting lodge’s main hall. He converses with the masked "Black Dog" and the "White Sheep." Subaru and Beatrice observe a highly tense, awkward interaction between Crusch ("Verdant Radiance") and Felix ("Blue Serpent"), whose master-servant relationship remains deeply strained. Russell and Rachins join the group to discuss future strategy. Russell shares a report from the "Pink Rabbit": there may be a clue to restore those affected by the authority of "Lust" back to normal. This revelation causes Felix emotional distress over Crusch's condition, though Crusch shuts down his remorse. Russell explains they cannot rely on the "Divine Dragon Church" because it has been infiltrated by the "Beloved Children"—including Tiga Rauleon, who has sided with the enemy. To find a cure, they must understand the principle of the authority of "Lust" using soul alteration research originally conducted by a "Witch." Russell requests that Subaru contact the fugitive Roswaal to obtain this knowledge. Afterward, Subaru and Beatrice privately discuss the matter in their room. Beatrice is skeptical because she never saw soul research in the Forbidden Library. Subaru hypothesizes that Echidna purposefully excluded these documents to protect Beatrice from painful memories of her first friend, Ryuzu Meyer, who was sacrificed for the Sanctuary's soul-based system. Comforted by this theory, Beatrice realizes the research must still be at her childhood home, "Kugelschreiber Castle." She reveals the castle can only be accessed via "Door Crossing" from a specific port: the Flügel Tree. This leaves Subaru in shock, as he knows the Flügel Tree has been destroyed, and he recognizes "Kugelschreiber" as the German word for "ballpoint pen."
