They are combating "Beloved Children," impostors replacing influential figures across the Lugunica Kingdom. In their sixth successful mission, Subaru infiltrates a banquet disguised as a wealthy heiress, Natsumi Schwarz, alongside Crusch ("Verdant Radiance") disguised as her eyepatch-wearing husband, and "White Sheep," who guides the host's attention to them. The host is an impostor posing as Viscount Disken Morrow, who plans to execute fourteen of the real Viscount's suspicious loyal retainers in a separate wing that night. Subaru and Crusch lure the impostor into a private room. Subaru asks an unscheduled question about a private memory regarding a ringa tree. The fake Viscount answers flawlessly, but Crusch removes her eyepatch to reveal her "Dragon's Eye" and exposes his lie. When the impostor attacks with a magic staff, Beatrice ("Librarian") emerges from under Subaru’s dress, and they subdue him. Meanwhile, Rachins ("Long-Tongue"), Ferris ("Blue Snake"), and "Black Dog" rescue and heal the retainers. At a nearby hunting cabin, the group debriefs. Although the real Viscount remains missing, Subaru’s trick question proves the fake recently consulted the original, meaning the real Viscount is alive. Crusch commands the relieved retainers to run the domain as a council while pretending the Viscount is ill. Russell scolds Subaru for the risky stunt, but Crusch defends him. Ferris harbors envy of Subaru's ability to act spoiled. While Emilia and Ram are confirmed safe at the castle, the whereabouts of Rem, Otto, and their other companions remain unknown, leaving Subaru and Beatrice to find comfort in each other as they prepare for their next move.
