Natsuki Subaru ignores Russell Fellow’s instructions and leaps from their carriage window to help at a nearby building collapse. Russell is frustrated that "White Sheep" failed to manipulate Subaru's feelings to stop him. "Black Dog" arrives, admitting he broke a carriage axle to facilitate their departure, causing the accident. Although Russell initially decides to abandon the scene to prioritize securing Crusch Karsten, the situation at the crash site changes. At the wreckage, Subaru discovers that the mysterious "Blue Snake" is actually Ferris, who is desperately healing a mortally wounded man. Aided by Beatrice, who uses Murak magic to lighten a heavy timber, Subaru frees the victim, allowing Ferris to perform a miraculous healing. When the rest of the building begins to collapse, Beatrice exhausts her mana to lighten the debris. Subaru, local guards, and Kadomon—the capital's fruit vendor, who recognizes Subaru despite his disguise—successfully hold up the wreckage until everyone is evacuated. Suddenly, thirty Royal Guard knights surround Ferris to arrest him for rebellion. Subaru fiercely defends Ferris, but the commander recognizes Subaru, breaking his perception-blocking disguise and exposing him as a wanted criminal. Crusch arrives to defend them, using her enhanced "Dragon's Eye" to distinguish and strike down hostile assassins disguised as knights. "Black Dog" unleashes a smokescreen, and Subaru uses Invisible Providence to disable the knight commander. Kadomon and the local guards block the remaining knights, allowing Subaru, Beatrice, Ferris, and Crusch to escape. They board the carriage alongside Rachins, Russell, "White Sheep," and "Black Dog." Although Russell is displeased with the insubordination, he reveals that Crusch refused to cooperate with the "Six Tongues" without Subaru. Subaru requests that future operations focus on minimizing casualties, gaining support from Beatrice, "White Sheep," and Crusch. Though reunited, Ferris and Crusch share a strained dynamic, choosing to awkwardly communicate advice and medical concerns to each other solely through Subaru. As the carriage departs, Russell mutters in bewilderment at the highly unpredictable cargo.
