Subaru Natsuki wakes up in a bedroom alongside Beatrice, still reeling from the kingdom's crisis. Russell Fellow, whom Subaru knows as a merchant representative, is present along with a girl code-named "White Sheep." Russell reveals he has been exchanging letters with Roswaal for fifteen years, but clarifies he acted entirely on his own judgment when assisting Subaru during the White Whale hunt. To verify Subaru is not a Sin Archbishop impostor, Russell hands him his old flip phone. Using his "Divine Protection of Appraisal," Russell confirms the item only radiates value in the hands of the genuine Subaru, proving his identity. Subaru further argues his innocence by pointing out that his past embarrassing behavior at the royal castle is proof he is too foolish to be a Witch Cult plant. Russell formally clears Subaru, declaring him someone the kingdom desperately needs to rely on. Rachins, recovering on a nearby couch, interrupts to reveal Russell’s true identity: Russell is "Silver Fox," the Director of "The Six Tongues," the kingdom's secret counterintelligence and spy organization. Russell explains their primary objective is defending the nation against a thirty-year-old elusive threat known as the "Beloved Children." White Sheep reveals that she and the absent "Black Dog" are former members of the "Beloved Children" who defected a year ago. She thanks Subaru, explaining that his defeat of Petelgeuse Romanee-Conti threw their leader, "Mama," into disarray, allowing them to escape. She then drops a bombshell: "Mama" is actually Capella Emerada Lugunica, the shape-shifting Sin Archbishop of Lust, who subjects the children to intense emotional abuse. Because of Capella's perfect shape-shifting, she has evaded "The Six Tongues" for decades while orchestrating treason across the kingdom. Russell delivers a terrifying final revelation: Capella and her "Beloved Children" have successfully replaced the Council of Sages and the majority of Lugunica's high nobility, and the vital Dragonstone is highly feared to be in Capella’s hands.
