In the Royal Capital, "Sword Saint" Reinhard van Astrea blocks the path of Otto, Garfiel, Rem, Petra, and Meili to arrest them under orders from the Royal Castle. Reinhard confronts them alone to minimize casualties, confirming that Emilia and Ram are being detained. Refusing to surrender, Otto and the others resolve to fight. Garfiel attacks Reinhard, displaying immense growth since their last encounter. He attempts to gain an advantage by shaking Reinhard's footing with his Divine Protection of Earth Spirits, but Reinhard stomps the energy away, shattering the street and severely injuring Garfiel with a single blow. Despite his critical condition, Garfiel clings to Reinhard’s arm to pin him. Otto acts as a decoy and is knocked out, while Petra, Meili, and Rem launch follow-up attacks that Reinhard effortlessly fends off. "Sword Demon" Wilhelm Trias suddenly arrives to assist. In a desperate coordinated effort, Wilhelm makes a calculated decision to slash through Garfiel's side to deliver a deep, disabling wound to Reinhard’s leg. Wilhelm grabs Garfiel and Otto, while Rem scoops up Petra and Meili. Guided by Otto's direction to head west where there are no insects to track them, the group flees. To halt their escape, Reinhard draws the legendary "Dragon Sword" Reid, unleashing a terrifying sword aura. Realizing they cannot escape the drawn blade, Meili makes a self-sacrificing decision. Using her Divine Protection of Demon Manipulation, she summons four giant Sand Earthworms at the capital's gates to incite widespread panic. Petra weeps, knowing this act ruins Meili's chance at redemption and labels her a threat to the Kingdom once more. The massive distraction forces Reinhard to sheathe the Dragon Sword without using it so he can protect the capital, allowing the group to escape.
