Marcos Gildark, Captain of the Lugunica Royal Guard, confronts the Emilia camp at their villa with the absurd accusation that Subaru is a Sin Archbishop of the Witch Cult. Despite the camp’s protests, Marcos demands Emilia return to the castle for questioning. When Rem asks where Subaru is, the guards grow hostile, but Marcos forces them to back down with a burst of intense killing intent that only Garfiel senses. Marcos then reveals that Miklotov McMahon has been murdered. The kingdom suspects Duchess Crusch Karsten and Subaru conspired in the killing; Miklotov's wounds match Crusch's family sword, and Subaru allegedly aided her escape. Otto deduces that this is a plot to detain Emilia and Crusch to exclude them from the Royal Selection. Marcos allows Emilia only one attendant. Although still recovering from exhaustion, Ram arrives and volunteers to accompany her. Wishing to clear Subaru’s name, Emilia departs for the castle with Ram. Knowing they will face house arrest, Otto orders the remaining camp members—Garfiel, Petra, Rem, and Meili—to escape within five minutes so they can search for Subaru and Crusch. To avoid worsening their political standing, they agree to flee without causing casualties. Petra orchestrates a distraction by blocking the kitchen chimney and lighting a fire under the floorboards. While the panicked guards deal with the smoke, Garfiel and Rem quietly choke out the remaining sentries at the back exit. The group flees toward the commoner district. Garfiel carries Petra and Meili over the district’s defensive wall, while Rem leaps over carrying Otto. However, once they land, Otto realizes that the insects he communicates with via his divine protection have vanished. He panics, realizing they were tricked and lured directly into an inescapable trap. Instantly, an extremely dangerous, unidentified pursuer confronts the group, ordering them to stop.
